Saying Goodbye to 2015!

The holiday season has finally come and gone and so has another year. It’s hard to believe that 2016 is here. 2015 has been quite a fun and exciting year in our house and as we get into the swing of this January, I wanted to look back at the wonderful times and memories the past year has offered us.

The year started off with something exciting, the wedding of my brother and sister-in-law. It was a long time coming, being together for almost 10 years. I’ve know her since I can remember and she’s been my sister for equally as long so I was so happy to be asked to be her Matron of Honor. The wedding was small and beautiful with lots of family, friends, and laughter on a beautiful New Years Eve, ringing in the new year with tons of love and festivities.

I also started a new school helping me on the road to a new career that I’m thrilled to finish come this year and start in a new career.
Soon after my sweet husband finally came home from a long deployment. It was the first six month deployment we went through and it was one of the hardest things I think I’ve gone through but it made us so much stronger and we’re more in love than ever.

We made lots of visits to family and had tons of fun times. My husband showed off his heritage, I experimented with my hair, and our dog finally had his first major surgery and got neutered which was so scary for this puppy-mom but he’s a healthy and happy almost 2 year old love bug.

A few weeks went by and we finally got some tickets to a Navy Ball! I’ve wanted to go to one since we got married but the Hubs always had duty that day so this year was the first opportunity we had and I was beyond excited. PicMonkey CollageballThe ball was everything we’d hoped, fancy and fun (even if it was a lot of speeches to listen to). We definitely looked the part but were more than exhausted and ended up on our couch by around 10 o’clock. The dessert was well worth it though. 🙂

I was super grateful I got to spend my 25th birthday with my sweet, wonderful husband who unfortunately misses a lot of normal things people take for granted. He made it so special and I was so grateful.

We went on some really great little adventures together too:

We went to the Boston Museum of Science

Spent the day at a Garlic FestivalIMG_4135

We even to our local Aquarium for the day to visit the fish! FIshies.png

We had a lot of time between our wonderful summer till the holidays filled with lots of busy schedules and school. We crammed a ton of fall time activities into one weekend; apple picking, thanksgiving food, and pumpkin carving.IMG_4407

Then come Thanksgiving,  my father-in-law came up to visit for a once in a lifetime trip out on a tiger-cruise with my husbands boat. Only around 20 family members were chosen for a four day trip of diving and riding around the ocean, experiencing what the sailors do for us everyday when they’re out.

It felt like there wasn’t any more that we could cram into our jam packed year of fun and excitement. We were so blessed to be able to do so many things with our family that don’t live near us, celebrate the wonderfully exciting milestones with family, and have our own adventures. Surprisingly enough we managed to squeeze one more grand adventure into 2015.

Our Christmas present this year was a week long trip to Universal Studios in Florida! There was nothing more I wanted this year than to finally go on a vacation with my sweet husband. With the busy schedule we have and small chance for trips this was our first opportunity to go on our Honeymoon almost 3 years after we got married.

We spent three days in Universal Studios and one day in Disney World and it couldn’t have been a more perfect way to end our year. The parks were packed with happy people in the holiday spirit, the weather was warm (which was a nice change from our Northern winter) and we had the best time in the amazing Harry Potter themed Universal Parks. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend the end of 2015 with my husband.

There is so much we went through this year and I can’t wait to see what is to come this up coming year. There will be ups and downs like always, there always looming deployments, time apart, and work that seems to take priority sometimes. My hopes for this new year is for 2016 to be as full of fun adventures with my husband, the a happy healthy family full of more love than we can imagine and for great opportunities to come our way. I can’t wait to see where it leads us!

Happy New Year!
