Feeling under the weather- stomach Bug of 2015

Happy Easter!

It’s the end of another weekend and my husband and I finally have recovered from the most vicious, fast-paced stomach virus imaginable. Thankfully we each had the time to recover and a long weekend to spend relaxing together.

When the weather changes where the days are warm but the nights are cold… it’s inevitable that people are going to come down with something. Ours was like a tidal wave of hurt that hits you all of a sudden. It was no fun.

I know everyone has their favorite ways to feel better when sick but here a few of my favorite ways to feel better when I’m under the weather:

1// “…high quality H2O..”- The Waterboy : staying hydrated is super important, especially if you are… eek… Throwing up, or you have a fever. Drinking plenty of fluids will not only cool your body and replace the hydration you’ve lost but it will also help minimize any headaches you might get that could be the result of dehydration.

2// Rest is sick’s enemy: Sleeping is my favorite way to help me get better from anything. Migraines, stomach aches, the flu… anything wrong with me I’ll try to take a small nap first to give my body the rest it needs to fight everything inside.

3// Stay warm and cool: Sounds contradicting but hear me out. When you have a fever you’re either chilled to the bone or sweating like you ran a mile. I like to have a heating pad at the ready, tons of blankets and a ceiling fan for air circulation. You don’t want to feel stuffy when you’re sweating your fever away.

It’s the small things in life that really make the difference, especially when sick. One of the best things I could have asked for was having my husband here to take care of me while I was getting better. There are so may more wonderful tips to help you feel better when you’re sick, these are the super basic ones I live by. What are some of yours?
